Good Shepard Rosary

The Good Shepherd Rosary is a unique and meaningful way to pray the Rosary. It is a variation of the traditional Rosary that focuses on the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. This Rosary is often prayed for the intention of vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

The Good Shepherd Rosary consists of five sets of ten beads, just like the traditional Rosary. However, instead of praying the Hail Mary on each bead, the Good Shepherd Rosary is prayed using the following prayers:

On each of the first three beads:

  • O Good Shepherd, make your presence felt in our midst.
  • O Good Shepherd, dispel the darkness of our minds and hearts.
  • O Good Shepherd, pour out your grace upon us.

On each of the remaining seven beads:

  • The Lord is my Shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
  • He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters.
  • He restores my soul; he guides me in right paths for his name’s sake.
  • Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.
  • You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
  • Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.

At the end of each set of ten beads, the following prayer is said:

  • O Jesus, Good Shepherd, who have come to save what was lost, you have laid down your life for your sheep. Make us your one flock, and grant us the grace to follow you. Amen.

The Good Shepherd Rosary is a beautiful way to deepen your relationship with Jesus as the Good Shepherd and to pray for the needs of the Church.
