So Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?”

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Is your faith shaken? Do you want to walk away? Like Peter so elegantly says “To whom can we go.” What would life be without belief, without desire for eternal life? I imagine it would be a very empty and very lonely life. The Catholic Faith gives us every single week and every day if we can that opportunity to receive the source and summit, the body and blood of our Lord and Savior. It is not bread and wine. We don’t believe it is that. When you eat this bread and drink this wine, you shall have life everlasting. Because by body is true food and my blood true drink.

We have a scandal going on in our Church, our faith and our Church have always been under attack. Maybe it would be easy to throw in the towel. We lose people all the time and that is sad. Some leave because they don’t like the Father, they don’t understand the homily, they want better or louder music. I cannot imagine leaving my faith for those reasons. It is not always easy being Catholic. I’m sure it was more difficult for the disciples. Jesus said if you don’t want to follow me, leave. We should never leave but when things get to, get tougher. When everything seems dark, bind tighter together. We attend mass for the finish, the Eucharist, the foundation of our faith. Be blessed!
